December 6, 2015: Holiday Nightmares

You'll find nine additions to the Christmas and New Year's Ads gallery today and two additions to the Football Bowl Game Ads gallery, from December 20, 1997 - January 2, 1998 issues of TV Guide Magazine, and from December 1997 editions of The Blade. The first five ads are from the December 20-26, 1997 issue of TV Guide Magazine, starting with a Saturday, 12/20/97 full-page NBC ad for "It's a Wonderful Life" (James Stewart, Donna Reed), followed by a Sunday, 12/21/97 page-and-a-half Fox ad for The World's Funniest, The Simpsons, "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace" and King of the Hill, "The Unberable Blindness of Laying." (Holiday Nightmares!). Also included are two "close-ups," and you can find a larger version here. Next is another 12/21/97 ad (and "editor's Choice" description), for The CBS World Premiere Movie, "A Christmas Story" (Patty Duke, Eric Lloyd). There's a Monday, 12/22/97 ad for Melrose Place, "A Tree Talks in Melrose" (Oh come all ye unfaithful), followed by a Thursday, 12/23/97 ad for another CBS World Premiere Movie, "I'll Be Home For Christmas" (Ann Jillian, Robert Hays). Next are two ads from the Wednesday, 12/24/97 edition of The Blade, a full-page ad (Holiday Greetings. The owners and employees of The Blade wish you the happiest of holidays, and a joyful, prosperous New Year.), followed by a Peach Section ad for "Scrooge" (Happy Holidays from TV5). The next two additions are from the December 27, 1997 - January 2, 1998 issue of TV Guide Magazine, starting with a Wednesday, 12/31/97 half-page "close-up" for New Year's Marathons on various cable channels and also includes some 9:05-10:00 AM listings. The other one has two 12/31/97 ads, one for When New Year's Eve Attacks, on Fox and one for New Year's Rockin' Eve (Dick Clark, Daisy Fuentes) on ABC, and also includes a "close-up" description for both shows. The other two ads today are in the Bowl Games gallery. The first one is a Saturday, 12/20/97 Blade Sports Section ad for tickets to the Sugar Bowl where Ohio State lost to Florida State, 31-14. The second one is a Saturday, 12/27/98 TV Guide full-page ad for the bowl games on ESPN (National Car Rental Bowl Week. The Most Wonderful Week of the Year).
