October 1, 2009: Donahue Premieres

I added 20 more today, all from August-October 1970. First, at the top of the links column on the right, you'll find all of the Halloween ads in one place throughout October. In the channel 2 gallery there are four ads for The Phil Donahue Show which premiered in Detroit on 9/7/70. There's also one for "The Lusty Men" with Robert Mitchum and one for the Tuesday night CBS shows, The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres, which TV2 advertised like new cars. The channel 4 gallery has two more for Profiles in Black and one for a Don Kremer sports special, The Year of the Lions. By the way, the Lions went 10-4 that year. The channel 4 news page has three more 'Laugh a Little!' ads, too. The channel 7 gallery has four more movie ads for "Rampage" (also with Robert Mitchum), "Shock Treatment" (with Roddy McDowall spelled with one l), "The Third Day" and "Wild in the Country" with Elvis. The channel 24 gallery has one for The Mike Douglas Show with Milton Berle co-hosting and the WXON-TV62 gallery has one advertising their Science Fiction Movies. The channel 50 gallery has one for The Lou Gordon Program, asking 'Are Detroit School children being gypped in their education? and the NBC gallery has one for the Fall 1970 NBC Sunday Night shows, The Wonderful World of Disney, The Bill Cosby Show, Bonanza and The Bold Ones.  Coming up: More from Fall 1970...
