September 13, 2015: Junly to Die For

There are twelve more ads today, from the June 27-July 3, 1998 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from June 27-29 & July 1, 1998 editions of The Blade, plus one Random Pages gallery addition, a Monday, 6/29/98 Blade Peach Section story by Chris Borrelli, "Originality Still Available on the Radio." There are five additions, all from The Blade, to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery starting with a Saturday, 6/27/98 Peach Section ad for the movie, "A Town Has Turned to Dust" (Ron Perlman) on Sci-Fi Channel. Next is the first of several more "Make Us A Part Of Your Summer! ads, another 6/27/98 Peach Section ad, for Fox Sports Detroit (Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons), ESPN, ESPN2 and Classic Sports Network. There's also a Sunday, 6/28/98 Living Section ad for ESPN, ESPN2 (Jamie Farr Kroger Classic), and Golf Channel, followed by a 6/28/98 TV Week ad, for Fox Sports Detroit (Fantastic Sports Action All Year Long! Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons). And there's a Wednesday, 7/1/98 ad, for TV Land (The Addams Family, Green Acres, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour), Family Channel, History Channel, A&E, and ToledoVision 5. There are six additions, all from TV Guide, to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery starting with a Sunday 6/28/98 ad for Midsomer Murders, "Killing at Badger's Drift" on A&E (July to Die For), followed by a Monday, 6/29/98 full-page ad for The X-Files on FX (The Government Will Deny Everything...the first 100 episodes uncut and in order.). Next is a Monday 6/29/98 ad for Poirot Week on A&E (July to Die For, again). About today's title, "Junly to Die For," A&E ran these ads during the "July Sweeps" period, which actually starts in June. That's why some of the ads with the "July to Die For" header have June dates on them and why I changed "July" to Junly" in the title. The next three ads are all for A&E shows too, all with Bill Kurtis, a Wednesday, 7/1/98 ad for American Justice, "Dead Woman Walking: The Karla Faye Tucker Story," a Thursday, 7/2/98 ad for The Unexplained, "Extreme Sacrifice," and a Friday, 7/3/98 ad and "close-up" program description, for the series premeire of LA Detectives. Today's last ad is an addition to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Monday, 6/29/98 full-page Blade ad for Food Town (Ohio's Top 100 Companies...Congratulations to the Hometown Team!). More July 1998 ads, from the July 4-10, 1998 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from the online archives of The Toledo Blade, are on the way...
