August 24, 2014: Toledo's Newest Network...The WB

 

There are thirteen more ads today, all from February 1995 plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from pages of the Blade starting with two Peach Section stories, a Thursday, 2/2/95 story, "TV5 Adding WB Programs" and a Friday, 2/3/95 story, "WNWO Getting Closer to Becoming NBC Affiliate" which also includes other items. There's also a Thursday, 2/9/95 front page story, "Christian TV Pulls Plug on 'Offensive' Limbaugh." All three of these have some parts edited out by me. There are eight additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, starting with a Wednesday, 2/1/95 ad for Winter Travel Report on The Weather Channel. Next is a Thursday, 2/2/95 ad for "Lionheart" on USA, followed by a Friday, 2/3/95 ad for reruns of Late Night with David Letterman on E! and another 2/3/95 ad for The Movie Channel's Movie Madness Weekend on Impulse, where you could watch movies all weekend for $3.95. There are two Sunday, 2/5/95 sports section ads, the first ad for Extreme Games 101 on ESPN2, the second ad for Sports Illustrated: America the Beautiful (Kathy Ireland) on USA. And there's a Wednesday, 2/8/95 ad for Charles Grodin on CNBC and a Thursday, 2/9/95 ad for Howard Stern on E! There are four additions to the ToledoVision 5 gallery, starting with a Thursday, 2/2/95 full-page ad, announcing the arrival of The WB on ToledoVision 5. The first four shows were The Wayans Brothers, The Parent Hood, Unhappily Ever After, and Muscle. Next is a Monday, 2/6/95 ad for the movie "The Burbs" (Tom Hanks), followed by two ads for talk shows, a Tuesday, 2/7/95 ad for "Fed Up With My Wild Sister" on The Richard Bey Show. and a Wednesday, 2/8/95 ad for "Secret Interracial Affairs" on The Montel Williams Show. Today's last ad is an addition to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery, a Wednesday, 2/1/95 ad for TNN's The Marty Party (Marty Stuart).
