February 11, 2014: Catch a Wave--Channel Surf

You'll find six more ads today, from December 1991 and January 1992, plus five more Random Pages gallery additions from pages of The Blade, starting with three from the Peach Section. The first two are Blade Runner columns by Alan Abrams, a Friday, 12/20/91 story, "Lauber Victim of Budget Ax," and a Monday, 12/23/91 story, "Anchors Aweigh at TV 13." There's also a Wednesday, 1/15/92 story by Tom Ensign, "Channel 13 Looks to a Brighter '92." Next is a Friday, 1/17/92 AP story in the sports section, "Harwell Accepts Broadcasting Job with CBS Radio." And the last one is another 1/17/92 story, by Tom Ensign, "Palka Moves to Channel 24" and also has some others items including one about Rebecca Fondessy. Apparently there wasn't room in the Peach Section for that day's "Focus on TV" column. There are five additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, starting with a Monday, 12/2/91 ad for four "Great Epics Week" movies on TBS, "Gone with the Wind," "Ben Hur," "Giant," and "King of Kings." Next is a Tuesday, 12/3/91 ad, for Council on Cable, Toledo City Council meetings shown on both the CableSystem and on Channel 30. There's also a Sunday, 12/8/91 full-page TV Week ad for programming on The Discovery Channel, TNT, ESPN, Comedy Central, TV5 and Impulse (Catch a Wave--Channel Surf with The CableSystem!). And there are two for the Family Channel, a Monday, 12/16/91 ad for the animated Prince Valiant and a Saturday, 12/21/91 ad for The Adventures of The Black Stallion (MIckey Rooney). Today's last ad is an addition to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Sunday, 12/1/91 ad for an appearance by Tony Orlando at the Masonic Auditorium, presented by St. Francis De Sales High School. More January 1992 ads, from the online archives of The Toledo Blade are on the way...
