September 15, 2013: TV 30 Brings You the Classics

 

I added fifteen more ads today, from July, August and September 1988, plus six Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade, all by Tom Ensign. There are several Friday 7/1/88 items, about WTOL-TV and WWWM-FM / WOHO-AM. Next is a Thursday, 7/14/88 story, “Toledo Makes the Big Time With a Mention on a Soap” (Days of Our Lives), followed by a Saturday, 7/16/88 story, “Conventions Not You Cup of Tea? TV Choices Abound.” There's also a Thursday, 8/17/88 story, “Channel 13 Expanding News to 2-Hour Package” and also includes other Toledo television and radio station items, followed by a Thursday, 8/25/88 story, “Local Stations Planning Changes in Fall Schedules.” And there are several Saturday, 9/3/88 items, about Toledo television and radio. There's one channel 13 ad, an addition to the Jerry Lewis Telethon gallery, a Sunday, 9/4/88 ad. There's also one addition to thChannel 36 gallery, a Sunday, 7/17/88 ad for 21 Jump Street and the following week's “Unconventional Movie Week” featuring “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “Good Guys Wear Black,” “Conan, the Destroyer,” “The Cannonball Run” and “Animal House.” There are four additions to the PBS gallery, for shows on Channel 30. The first one is a Thursday, 7/14/88 ad for their Victory Garden contest, sponsored by Titgemeier's, where you could meet show host, Bob Thompson. The other three ads are for their “Fall Festival” programming, including a Wednesday, 9/7/88 ad for The Living Desert, a National Geographic Special, “African Odyssey,” Infinite Voyage, “The Ancient Americans” and The Sands of Time. Next is a Saturday, 9/10/88 ad for the movie, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” and a Monday, 9/12/88 ad for the special, Simon and Garfunkel: The Concert in Central Park. There's one addition to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Tuesday, 7/12/88 ad (“How to Get it All!”). There are five additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, including a Thursday, 7/7/88 ad for Bill Stewart on WWWM-FM 105.5, a.k.a. 3WM. There are two ads for WLQR-FM 101.5, a Tuesday, 8/30/88 ad (How to “Have a Nice Day”) and a Friday, 9/2/88 ad, for their Jazz shows, Portraits in Sound, Touch of Jazz and The Jazz Show with David Sandborn. There's also a Wednesday, 8/31/88 full-page ad for WKKO-FM 99.9 / WTOD-AM 1560, followed by a Monday, 9/12/88 ad for morning man Paul Ellis on WSPD-AM 1370. There are three additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, all full-page ads. The first one is a Monday, 8/8/88 ad for the Air Show at Toledo Express Airport, sponsored by Food Town. The other two are ads from the Sunday, 9/4/88 “Labor on Parade” supplement to The Blade, the first ad for Champion, the second ad for the Ford Maumee Stamping Plant.
