September 12, 2013: Channel 11's Sue Parcell Found Dead

I added eight more ads today, all from June 1988, including more “Panda ads.” There are also two addtions to the Random Pages gallery, both Blade stories about the death of WTOL's Sue Parcell, who died after becoming ill in China. The first one is a Thursday, 6/9/88 front page story by Carl Ryan and Mark Zabroney, “Channel 11's Sue Parcell Found Dead.” The other one is a Friday, 6/10/88 Peach Section story by Tom Ensign, “Parcell Was a Professional, a Colleague, and a Friend.” Be sure to check out the September 10, 2013 post for four channel 11 ads on Sue Parcell's coverage of the Pandas, including the trip to China and a 1/13/2001 Blade story. There are no ads for channels 11, 13, 30 or 36 today, but there is one addition to the Channel 24 gallery, a Friday, 6/24/88 ad for the Hee Haw 20th Anniversary Special. I'm not sure why this aired on channel 24, since the weekly series was still on channel 11. There's also one addition to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Wednesday, 6/1/88 ad for As They See It, on the Discovery Channel. There are two additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, a Monday, 6/6/88 ad for WLQR-FM 101.5, and a Tuesday, 6/14/88 ad for WSPD-AM 1370's “Panda Adventure” contest. The other four ads are all additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery. The first one is a Thursday, 6/9/88 full-page ad for the COSI Dinosaurs, sponsored by Kroger. Next is a Thursday, 6/16/88 ad for the 4th Annual Corvette Show at Westgate Village Shopping Center. There are three Saturday, 6/25/88 “Panda Pause” ads, for State Farm, Food Town and Kroger. Today's last ad is a Monday, 6/27/88 full-page ad for Toledo's Star Spangled Celebration, with fireworks sponsored by Kroger, Pepsi, First Federal and Sohio. July and August 1988 ads, from the online archives of The Toledo Blade are on the way...
