August 1, 2013: Meet the Dynamic Duo of Home Entertainment

I added eight more ads today, all from January 1987, plus five more Random Pages gallery additions from The Blade, including a Sunday, 1/4/87 Entertainment Section story by Tom Ensign, “Cable TV Expands Its Horizons,” about upgrades to the CableSystem. The other four are all from The Peach Section, all but one credited to Tom Ensign. First is a Saturday, 1/10/87 story, “WTOL Loses, Channel 24 Gain General Managers” and also includes other local TV items. Next are several Thursday, 1/15/87 items, followed by a Tuesday, 1/20/87 story, “Channel 11 Names General Manager.” The other one is a Thursday, 1/29/87 story, “Death Of Treasurer Raises Issues Of Taste, Propriety,” about coverage of an on-air suicide. There are two additions to the Channel 13 News gallery, a Monday, 1/26/87 ad (Jeannine Lauber, Jerry Anderson, Neil Hartman, Stan Stachak) and a Friday, 1/30/87 ad for “Basketball Friday” (Neil Hartman, Michael Reghi). There's one addition to the Channel 36 gallery, a Sunday, 1/18/87 TV Tab ad for “The Mask” in 3-D. There are two more similar TV Guide ads, a 1/13/87 ad and another another 1/18/87 ad, plus the related Peach Section story mentioned above. There's also one addition to the PBS gallery, a Wednesday, 1/7/87 ad for Channel 30's Sesquicentennial Salute, with The Wholly Toledo Quiz at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. and Toledo Scrapbook: Canal Days at 8:30 p.m. There's one addition to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery as well, a Thursday, 1/8/87 ad (Meet the Dynamic Duo of Home Entertainment...). This ad actually encouraged you to tape cable programs! The Radio Station Ads gallery has one addition, too, a Thursday, 1/29/87 ad for WOHO's coverage of the Cleveland Indians, as well as the Browns, Ohio State football and basketball, and high school sports. Today's last two ads are both additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Tuesday, 1/20/87 ad for “one stop shopping” at Bonded, Gastown and Speedway stations, and a Friday, 1/23/87 ad for “Super-Bowl Sunday” at el Matador restaurants.
