March 28, 2013: King of the Hobos

I added fifteen more ads today, all from October 1982, plus one more Random Pages gallery addition consisting of several Friday, 10/1/82 items by Tom Gearhart in that day's Blade Peach Section. The items were about WOHO's Corey Deitz, The CMAs on WKLR-FM, 20/20 Musicworld on WSPD, Kirby Stanat on WTOL-TV, and the winner of a CableSystem contest. I actually have one addition to the Channel 9 gallery today, a Friday, 10/29/82 ad for Super Stars of Wrestling. It really surprised me to find an ad for anything on Windsor's channel 9 in The Blade. There are two additions to the Channel 11 gallery, both for CBS prime-time shows. The first one is a Friday, 10/1/82 ad for PM Magazine, The Dukes of Hazard, “Dukes Strike It Rich,” Dallas, “Changing of the Guard,” Falcon Crest, “The Challenge,” and Toledo Eleven News (Jeff Heitz, Bob Lawrence). The other one is a Wednesday, 10/6/82 ad for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, “I Love You, Molly McGraw,” Alice, “Sorry, Wrong Lips!,” Filthy Rich “Some Like It Not,” Tucker's Witch, “The Good Witch of Laurel Canyon,” and Toledo Eleven News. There's one addition to the Channel 24 gallery, a Thursday, 10/21/82 ad for Mornings With Paul W. (formerly AM Magzine), live from Northtowne Square Mall (Paul W. Smith). There are six additions to the PBS gallery, all for programs on channel 30, including a Monday, 10/11/82 ad for Great Performances, “The Mysterious Stranger” (Chris Makepeace, Lance Kerwin, Fred Gwynne). Next is a Tuesday, 10/12/82 ad for Nova, “The Case of the UFOs” and Mystery, “Sweeney Todd.” There's also a Wednesday, 10/13/82 ad for My Brilliant Career, and a Thursday, 10/14/82 ad for Wild America “Watching Wildlife” and a locally produced special, Steam Train Maury: The King of the Hobos, about Toledoan Maury Graham. There's a Friday, 10/15/82 ad for The Body in Question, “Naming of Paris” (Jonathan Miller) and a Thursday, 10/21/82 ad for Sneak Previews with new hosts Neal Gabler and Jeffrey Lyons. There are two additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Friday, 10/22/82 ad for “The Blade and Cable News Advertising, a winning combination,” on cable channel 11, and a Wednesday, 10/27/82 ad for programs on ESPN. There's another ESPN ad in the Vintage Cable Ads gallery, a Friday, 10/29/82 ad for Saturday Night Fights, “Night of the Tigers” (Sylvester Stallone) and an NBA doubleheader (Isiah Thomas). There are also two additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Friday, 10/15/82 ad for Toledo Express Airport and a Thursday, 10/28/82 ad for a Highland Appliance Midnight Madness Sale, with an Alfred Hitchcock theme. November 1982 ads, from the online archives of The Toledo Blade, are on the way...
