October 22, 2013: Toledo's Own Homecoming Queen with a Kick

 

I added twelve more ads today, all from October 1989, plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade, all by Tom Ensign. There's a Friday, 10/6/89 story, “Channel 30 Introducing Local Weekly News Magazine,” about the locally produced program, Friday, and also includes other TV and radio items. Next is a Wednesday, 10/18/89 story, “WGTE, Sight Center Plan Joint Venture to Help the Print Disabled” and also includes other TV and radio items, too. The last one is a Saturday, 10/21/89 story, “Television Deserves Praise for Earthquake Coverage,” about the San Fransico quake that interrupted the World Series. There are two additions to the the Channel 24 gallery, including a Tuesday, 10/3/89 ad for Family Feud, ABC prime-time shows, Who's the Boss?, “In your Dreams,” The Wonder Years, “Summer Song,” Roseanne, “Somebody Stole My Gal,” Chicken Soup, “The Reservation,” and Thirtysomething, “Love and Sex,” and 24 NewsWatch. The other one is a Thursday, 10/12/89 ad for The Joan Rivers Show with guest, Tamara Browder, “Toledo's own homecoming queen with a kick.” There's also one addition to the Channel 24 News gallery, a Wednesday, 10/11/89 ad for 24 NewsWatch (Greg Carson, Dancie Moore). There's one addition to the PBS gallery, a Thursday, 10/12/89 ad for Mystery!, “Campion,” on Channel 30. The Illustration was by the Paul Davis Studio. There's also one addition to the Channel 36 gallery, a Sunday, 10/22/89 ad for 38 regular season Detroit Pistons games, on channel 36 for the first time. There are two additions to the ToledoVision 5 gallery, a Tuesday, 10/3/89 ad for The Andy Griffith Show, and a Monday, 10/22/89 ad for The Lou Holtz Show, the first of many “Fly With 5!” ads. There are also five additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, starting with a Sunday, 10/1/89 ad which asks, “What's the craziest thing you'd do for a mitsubishi? Yark Mitsubishi, WCWA-AM, WIOT-FM and WUPW-TV sponsored the contest. Next are two ads for Blade carriers, a Monday, 10/2/89 ad (“License to Deliver”) and a Tuesday, 10/17/89 full-page ad (“We've got the greatest carriers on the Great Lakes!”). There's also a Saturday, 10/21/89 ad for an NBA exhibition game at UT's Savage Hall, featuring the Pistons playing the Knicks, sponsored by WTVG-TV 13 and WSPD-AM 1370.
