October 1, 2013: Working Like a Dog

 

I added thirteen more ads today, all from March, 1989, plus four Random Pages gallery additions from the pages of The Blade. The first one is a Thursday, 3/2/89 Peach Section story by Tom Ensign, “PBS Ready For Festival 89' With Specials, Hands Out.” Next is a Saturday, 3/4/89 Peach Section story by Seymour Rothman, “WTVG's Reghi Happiest When Doing Play-by-Play.” There's also a Tuesday, 3/7/89 story by Tom Ford, in the second news section, “Radio Station Jumps the Gun on Playing of Madonna Song.” The last one is a Thursday, 3/9/89 Peach Section story, “Viewer Complains, and the Result's Scary,” about Terry Rakolta's attack on Married...With Chioldren. There are two additions to the Channel 36 gallery, both for the '89 Family Fair at Seagate Centre, a Monday, 3/6/89 ad (John Wayne) and a Thursday, 3/9/89 ad (Jack Webb). There are four additions to the PBS gallery, for Festival '89 programming on Channel 30, including a Friday, 3/3/89 ad for the movie, “Beat the Devil” and a Tuesday, 3/7/89 ad for Nova, “Legends of Easter Island.” There are also two Wednesday, 3/8/89 ads, the first ad for the National Geographic Special, “Those Wonderful Dogs,” the second ad for Let's Rock Tonight with Fabian. There are four additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, including a Thursday, 3/2/89 ad for “Real Country Music Station,” WOHO-AM 1470, as their battle with WTOD for country music listeners continued. There are three more for WSPD-AM 1370, a Monday, 3/6/89 ad for the Cash Quiz contest on the Paul Ellis morning show, a Wednesday, 3/8/89 ad (Paul Ellis, Lee Kirk, Jude LaCava), and another 3/8/89 ad for their talk shows, Money Talk, Ask a Realtor, and shows hosted by Bruce Williams, Neil Meyers, and Dara Welles (“The Best Talk is on WSPD Radio”). The last three ads today are additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, all of them Wednesday, 3/1/89 ads, the first ad for The Blade's coverage of the Cleveland pro sports teams, the second ad for Apple Computers, discounted to school employees, and the third ad for The Ohio Sports Fishing, Travel & Outdoor Show, at Seagate Centre, sponsored by Food Town.
