January 22, 2013: Look to the Leaders

 

I added eleven more ads today, all from February, 1981, plus four more Random Pages gallery additions, from Peach Sections of The Blade. There's a Wednesday, 2/18/81 item, “Ch. 13 To Televise Rocket-Falcon Game” and a Saturday, 2/21/81 story by Seymour Rothman, “Good To See UT vs. BG Back On TV.” There are two more by Norman Dresser, including a Tuesday, 2/24/81 “About People, Events In Broadcasting World,” with items about Phyllis Quail, an NPR series adaption of “Star Wars” on WGTE-FM, Bishop Hoffman appearing on Hotline, Jeff Heitz, Rebecca Henshaw, and CBS newsman Charles Collingwood. The other one is a Friday, 2/27/81 story, “RCA Videodisk Brings Films To TV.” There are two additions to the Channel 11 gallery, The first one is a Monday, 2/23/81 ad for The Big Show, featuring the films, “Two Lane Blacktop,” “Hard Driver,” “Slither,” “Moonshine” and “Duel.” A similar TV Guide ad is here. The other one is a Wednesday, 2/25/81 ad for PM Magazine which had a segment on the Miami Children's Home in Maumee. There's also one addition to the Channel 11 News gallery, a Tuesday, 2/24/81 ad for Charles Merlin Umpenhour and Joe Ashton. There are two more channel 11 ads in the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, a Monday, 2/16/81 ad for a Bob Lawrence series of reports, “How Safe Are We?” and a Saturday, 2/28/81 ad for Hotline with Bishop James Hoffman, hosted by Bob Lawrence. There are also two ads for 13 Nightly News and NBC Nightly News in that gallery, for a series of reports on education, the Toledo Unit report by Bill Harris and the NBC report by Chris Wallace. There's a Monday, 2/23/81 ad and a Tuesday, 2/24/81 ad. There are also two additions to the Channel 13 News gallery, a Tuesday, 2/17/81 ad for “Leaders,” Frank Venner, Randy Price, Stan Stachak and John Gillespie, and a Wednesday, 2/18/81 ad for Randy Price. There's one addition to the Channel 24 gallery, a Wednesday, 2/18/81 ad for ABC's Eight is Enough, “Vows.” Today's last addition is to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Friday, 2/20/81 ad for the 24th Annual Rod & Custom Auto Rama at the Toledo Sports Arena, featuring appearances by Twiki from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and The Dukes of Hazzard car, the General Lee.
