January 10, 2013: Portrait of a Conductor

I added nine more ads today, from December 1980 plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade. There are two Tuesday, 12/2/80 stories by Norman Dresser, “CBS Launches Major Effort To Develop Teletext System,” and some radio items in “About People, Events In Broadcasting World.” Next is a Saturday, 12/6/80 story by Seymour Rothman, “What! No BG at UT Basketball Telecast?” followed by a Thursday, 12/11/80 story, “CableSystem To Join Sports Network, Expand Showtime.” There are two additions to the Channel 11 gallery, both for movies. The first one is a Saturday, 12/6/80 ad for “The Way West” on In the Balcony at the Bijou (Kirk Douglas). The second one is a Monday, 12/8/80 ad for four movies on The Big Show, The Great Escape” (in two parts), “Barefoot in the Park,” “The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing” and “Downhill Racer.” There are six additions to PBS gallery, all for channel 30. The first one is a Monday, 12/1/80 ad for Great Performances, “The Big Blonde” and the special, Directed by John Ford. Next is a Tuesday, 12/2/80 ad for Survival, “Gentle Giants of the Pacific,” the Jacques Cousteau special, “Voyage to the Edge of the World” and White Bear. There are two Friday, 12/5/80 ads, the first one for “Death Be Not Proud” and the other one for Here's to Your Health, “Burns.” There's also a Saturday, 12/6/80 ad for the movies “Treasure Island” and “The Student Prince,” G.I. Jive, and the movie, “War Between the Tates,” and a Tuesday, 12/9/80 ad for Zaliouk: Portrait of a Conductor, about Toledo Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor, Yuval Zaliouk.
