February 8, 2012: The Wasteland

I added 19 more ads today from May, June and July, 1971 plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from The Blade's Peach Section. There's a Monday, 6/21/71 story, "Quadrophonic Music Program Set For Tonight" and two stories about John Saunders. There's a Saturday, 7/17/71 story, "Saunders Leaving As Ch. 11 Trims News Program" and a Wednesday, 7/21/71 story, "John Saunders to Join Ch. 13." This was because of WTOL-TV dropping it's 7-7:30 newscast. There are only two in the Channel 11 gallery. The first is a Tuesday, 6/8/71 ad for the telecast of a Sylvania Savings Bank sponsored debate with Whitmer High School's championship team (Dave Poneman, Paul Turner, Bill Wians, Jim Godbey). The second one is a Saturday, 7/17/71 ad for the Sunday morning show, The Church in Action, comprised of a questionnaire on national priorities. There are two more channel 11 ads for Project Eleven with Joe Gillis in the News/Special Reports Ads gallery. There's a Friday, 5/28/71 ad for "The Wasteland" and a Wednesday, 6/9/71 ad for "The Ancients." There's also a channel 13 ad in that gallery, a Thursday, 6/17/71 ad for a Frank Venner report from Washington with Vice President Spiro Agnew discussing revenue sharing. There's only one in the Channel 13 gallery, a Monday, 5/24/71 ad for four episodes of Perry Mason, "The Case of the Midnight Howler," "The Case of the Golfer's Gambit," "The Case of the Avenging Angel" and "The Case of Tsarina's Tiara" (Raymond Burr). There's also just one in the Channel 24 gallery, a Wednesday, 6/16/71 Chevrolet ad for The Golddiggers. There's a channel 30 ad in the PBS gallery, a Wednesday, 6/2/71 ad for Firing Line (William F. The remaining eight ads are all in the Other Vintage ads gallery, three of them for retailers at the new Franklin Park Mall. There's a Sunday, 6/20/71 ad for jobs at the new JCPenney store, a Friday, 7/16/71 ad for Lamson's and a Monday, 7/19/71 two-page ad for Hudson's.
