I added 23 more ads today, all from August 1980 plus five more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade, all by Norman Dresser. The first one is a Friday, 8/8/80 story, “Satellites Playing Key Role In Expansion of Cablevision” which also includes an item on channel 11's Scott Clark. Next is a Wednesday, 8/20/80 story, “Will 'Narrowcasting' Save TV Broadcasting Industry?” There's also a Tuesday, 8/26/80 story, “'PM Magazine' To Join Ch. 11 Fall Lineup Sept. 8” and two Wednesday, 8/27/80 stories, “CableSystem To Offer New Network” (CNN) and “About People, Events In Broadcasting World” which includes items on the special, Angel Death, the 1980 Jerry Lewis MDA telethon, and some others. And there are three Friday, 8/23/80 items, on TV station profits, Channel 50 airing INN and Tom Wanewski and Mike Morin at WOHO. There's one addition to the Channel 13 gallery, a Wednesday, 8/27/80 ad for the special, Angel Death, narrated by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Jim Rudes hosted a local segment that followed. There are three more channel 13 ads for the 1980 Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, among the five additions to the Jerry Lewis Telethon gallery, a Sunday, 8/17/80 ad, a Wednesday, 8/27/80 ad, and a Sunday, 8/31/80 TV Tab ad. Also in that gallery is a Sunday, 8/17/80 Toledo Magazine ad for McDonald's, Dentyne, Trident and Freshen-Up Gum and Shick products, and a Friday, 8/22/80 ad for Hickory Farms. There are eight additions to the PBS gallery, all for channel 30, including a Friday, 8/15/80 ad for The Life of Adolf Hitler and the movie, “Bataan.” Next is a Saturday, 8/16/80 ad for The 1980 Drum Corps International Championship, followed by a Sunday, 8/17/80 ad for three movies, “Ninotchka,” “Camille” and “Naughty Marietta.” There's also a Monday, 8/18/80 ad for National Geographic, “Mysteries of the Mind,” The Dolphins and The Predators, and a Tuesday, 8/19/80 ad for Nova, “Living Machines,” Flambards, “Flying High” and the movie, “For Me and My Gal.” There's a Wednesday, 8/20/80 ad for The Golden Age of Television, “Requiem for a Heavyweight” (Jack Palance) and a Thursday, 8/21/80 ad for Live From the Grand Ole Opry. And there's a Friday, 8/22/80 ad for the movie, “The Philadeplphia Story” (Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant). There are three additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, all for CNN, a Thursday, 8/28/80 ad, a Friday, 8/29/80 ad and a Sunday, 8/31/80 ad. There's also one addition the the CableSystem Ch. 5 gallery, a Friday, 8/1/80 ad for a local country music special with Randy Shaffer and the Honky Tonk Heroes. There are five addtions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, including a Saturday, 8/2/80 ad for First Federal Savings of Toledo (Muddy the Mudhen meets the San Diego Chicken). Next is a Tuesday, 8/12/80 ad for The Ohio Lottery's Lucky Buck III game, followed by a Wednesday, 8/13/80 ad for Aetna Life & Casualty (Wholly Toledo!). There's also a Friday, 8/15/80 ad for Carlo Sommer and the Crusade of Love. If you watched TV in Toledo during the '80s you'll probably remember his commercials. Today's last addition is a Monday, 8/18/80 ad for Ohio Bell (A few simple ground rules).
