October 23, 2012: Inverness and the Open

 

 I added fifteen more ads today, all from June 1979. There's just one addition to the Channel 11 gallery, a Saturday, 6/9/79 ad for the special, Inverness and the Open, the first of many ads today for the 1979 U.S. Open Golf Tournament at the Inverness Club in Toledo. There's also one addition to the Channel 11 News gallery, a Saturday, 6/23/79 ad with a picture of Orris Tabner at the U.S. Open. There's also one addition to the Channel 13 gallery, a Monday, 6/6/79 ad for Free to Be Me, a three part special sponsored by Catholic Diocesan of Toledo. There are also two additions to the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, a Thursday, 6/21/79 ad for The Dumping Pools, a half-hour special report put together from a series of reports earlier aired on 13 Nightly News. There's also a Monday, 6/25/79 ad for a Paula Drew 13 Nightly News report on teenagers smoking pot. There's one addition to the Channel 24 News gallery, a Monday, 6/11/79 ad for Jim Tichy's reports from the U.S. Open, on 24 Eyewitness News. There's also one addition to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Sunday, 6/10/79 full-page ad from a special Blade supplement for the U.S. Open, telling about them providing service to 50 TVs located at Inverness. There are two additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, both for WGTE-FM, a Monday, 6/4/79 ad for The World of F. Scott Fitzgerald and a Tuesday, 6/19/79 ad for Lowell Thomas' appearance at the Toledo Museum of Art, broadcast live on 91.3 FM. The last six additions are all in the Other Vintage ads gallery, four of them, Sunday, 6/10/79 ads from The Blade's U.S. Open supplement, a full-page ad for Kroger, another full-page ad for Harry's Clothing (Arnold Palmer), an Ohio Citizen's ad and one more full-page ad for Rolex watches at Max Davis Jewelers (Arnold Palmer). There's also a Saturday, 6/2/79 full-page ad for Sohio  and a Monday, 6/11/79 ad for Mancy's, thanking 13 Strong viewers for voting them best restaurant.
