October 14, 2012: The Best 13

 

I added eighteen more ads today, from March and April, 1979 plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from The Blade, including a Tuesday, 3/20/79 page two story from The Blade's Columbus Bureau, “Satellite Hookup A Winner, Cable TV Station Chief Says,” about Ted Turner putting his Atlanta TV staton on satellite. There are two more from the Peach Section, by Norman Dresser, a Friday, 3/23/79 story, “Public TV's Festival '79 Local, National Success” which also includes several other items on different subjects, including the channel 11 documentary, Just People: A Report on the Handicapped in Toledo, and a Wednesday, 3/28/79 story, “Chs. 11, 4 To Carry Tiger Baseball Games” which also includes an item about viewer's response to the channel 50 showing of Scared Straight. There are five additions to the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, all for channel 11. There are four for a four-part Bob Lawrence Toledo Eleven News report on synthetic hair transplants gone bad, a Monday, 3/19/79 ad, a Tuesday, 3/20/79 ad, a Wednesday, 3/21/79 ad and a Thursday, 3/22/79 ad. There's also a Saturday, 3/24/79 ad for a Sunday prime-time special report, Just People: A Report on the Handicapped in Toledo. There's one addition to the Channel 13 gallery, a Saturday, 3/31/79 ad for American Life Style program about Helen Keller (Hugh Downs). There's also one addition to the Channel 13 News gallery, a Friday, 8/6/79 ballot for viewers to vote for “The Best 13.” There's also one addition to the Channel 24 gallery, a Thursday, 3/15/79 ad for The Ohio Lottery TV Drawing, and there's one addition to the PBS gallery, a Wednesday, 4/4/79 ad for parts three and four of The Scarlet Letter. There are four additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery including another one for Showtime, a Tuesday, 3/20/79 ad. There's also a Wednesday, 3/21/79 ad (Treat the family...), a Thursday, 3/22/79 ad (See what your missing), and a Friday, 3/30/79 ad (...to those who watch their neighbor's...). There are three additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, including a Saturday, 3/31/79 ad for a WPOS-FM sponsored gospel concert at the Masonic Auditorium, with The Cathedrals and The Kingsmen. There are also two Wednesday, 4/4/79 ads, the first ad for Betty Allen: In Recital on WGTE-FM and the second ad for Toledo's 24-hour Disco station, WKLR-FM 99.9. Today's last two additions are in the Other Vintage ads gallery, both for the McDonald's at 805 N. Reynolds Rd, in Toledo. There's a Friday, 3/16/79 ad and a Wednesday, 3/28/79 ad.
