January 25, 2012: Mass Transit for Toledo / Is It Worth It?

I added 19 more ads today from November and December 1970 plus three Random Pages gallery additions, all from Blade Peach Sections. There's a Friday, 11/13/70 AP item, "Ch. 50 Drops News Programs in Cost Cutback" which announced the end of WKBD's first try at 10PM news, and a Saturday, 11/14/70 Norman Dresser column, "TV Stations vs. FCC On News Coverage" which expanded on the first story. Also included was a story on pay TV coming to Chicago. There's also a Tuesday, 12/22/70 AP report on the December 7-13, 1970 top ten shows. There are six ads in the Channel 11 gallery including two for movies on CBS, an 11/12/70 ad for "The Guns of Navarone" on a special three-hour edition of The CBS Friday Night Movies and an 11/19/70 ad for "A Place in the Sun" on The CBS Thursday Night Movies. There are two more for movies on The Big Show, a Thursday 11/12/70 ad for "The Grapes of Wrath" and a Sunday, 11/15/70 ad for "Jailhouse Rock" (Elvis Presley) and there's also an 11/20/70 ad for "The Desperate Hours" on The Friday Night Movie (Humphrey Bogart). The last one is a Saturday, 12/5/70 ad for the color broadcast of a Toledo vs Michigan State basketball game with Orris Tabner doing the play-by-play. There are three more channel 11 ads in the the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, a Monday, 11/16/70 ad for the second week of News/90 drug abuse reports, "Is Is Worth It?," a Tuesday, 12/29/90 ad for Projection '70s: Medicine and a Wednesday, 12/30/70 ad for Project Eleven "The Year: 1970" with Joe Gillis. There's also a channel 13 ad in that gallery, a Monday, 11/16/70 ad for a Bill Peterson series of reports, "Mass Transit for Toledo," on The Venner-Ward Report. There's a 11/14/70 ad for "Shenandoah (James Stewart, Doug McClure, Rosemary Forsyth) and a 11/21/70 ad for "Father Goose" (Cary Grant, Leslie Caron). There's also a Tuesday, 11/17/70 ad for What's My Line? (Wally Bruner, Soupy Sales, Arlene Francis) and a Monday, 12/7/70 ad for NBC's The Bob Hope Special (Elke Sommer, Dorothy Lamour, Engelbert Humperdinck, Jack Benny). There's a Saturday, 11/21/70 ad for two college football games, in which Ohio State defeated Michigan 20-9 and UCLA defeated USC 45-20, and there's a Tuesday, 11/24/70 ad for The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau "The Tragedy of the Red Salmon" and The ABC Movie of the Week "Crowhaven Farm" (Hope Lange). Next is a Wednesday, 11/25/70 ad for A Night of Stars, a benefit performance that aired on Saturday, 11/28/70 (Mimi Hines, Phil Ford, Minnie Pearl, Tiny Tim, Rick Nelson, George Gobel) and there's a Friday, 12/18/70 ad for the ABC special, The Smokey Robinson Show.
