February 4, 2011: Apollo 14 (February 5, 1971)

Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 14 moon landing and by request (happy birthday, Darryl) I've uploaded to the Random Pages gallery all of the TV Guide (Detroit Edition) pages from that day and the close-up of Apollo 14 coverage from another elsewhere in that issue. Apollo 14 close-up and morning listings here, 11:30 am - 6:00 pm here, 6:00 - 8:30 pm here, 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm here and 10:00 pm - 3:30 am here. I've also posted an image with three Toledo Blade headlines here and that evening's TV listings, highlights and a schedule of telecasts from the moon, here. Here's the link to the newspaper in the Google archives, and in the Channel 24 gallery, an ad for their Apollo 14 All Night Special ("The Victors" at 1:00 am, "The Wackiest Ship in the Army" at 3:30 am and live coverage of the second lunar walk at 5:30 am). None of those shows were in the TV Guide listings. I also added eleven January 1996 TV Guide ads. There's one in the Channel 36 gallery. It's a full-page ad for part one of the Lazarus Man series premiere episode "Awakening" (Robert Urich). There's an ad and TV Guide close-up description in the CBS gallery for the movie, "The Rockford Files: If the Frame Fits" (James Garner, Dyan Cannon) and there are three in the FOX gallery, one for Ned and Stacey (Thomas Hayden Church, Debra Messing), a full-page ad for the 1996 NHL All-Star Game which introduced the Fox Trax puck, and one for a Red Wings vs. Blackhawks NHL game (Sergei Federov). There are two in the NBC gallery, one (on two pages) for two Sunday night shows, Mad About You "Get Back" (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt) and NewsRadio "Bitch Session" (Phil Hartman, Dave Foley) and a full-page ad for Friends "The One After the Super Bowl" (Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Julia Roberts, Jean-Cluade Van Damme, Brooke Shields, Chris Isaak). There's one in the PBS gallery for Frontline "The Gulf War" (Saddam Hussein) and there's a full-page ad in the UPN gallery for the pilot episode of Moesha (Brandy Norwood). The WB gallery has one ad (on two pages) for the Savannah two-hour series premiere episode, "Wedding Belle Blues" (Robyn Lively, Jamie Luner, Shannon Sturges) and there's one in the Vintage Cable Ads gallery. It's an AMC full-page ad for "El Dorado" on Saturday Classics (John Wayne). More vintage ads from the online archives of The Toledo Blade are on the way...
