February 26, 2011: Cannons and Computers

I added 19 more ads today from July-September, 1963 plus a short Toledo Blade story in the Random Pages gallery from Wednesday, 7/17/63 about future Bowling Green station WBGU-TV 70. There are five non-TV ads in the Other Vintage ads gallery, including a 7/1/63 ad for Variety Club soda, and a 7/4/63 full-page ad for Food Town Super Markets. Be sure to check out the prices! Next is a 7/9/63 ad for the opening of the 500th McDonald's (Toledo's 5th, on Byrne Rd.) and a 7/22/63 ad for Checker Marathons at Dick Reddish Dodge. There's also a 8/16/63 ad for a Lawrence Welk appearance at the Toledo Sports Arena and a 9/8/63 full-page ad for Kellogg's Froot Loops. There are three in the the Channel 11 gallery, a Saturday, 7/6/63 ad for Zoo Safari (Oscar Huff),a Sunday 8/4/63 ad for Image: Industry "Doehler Jarvis" and a Sunday, 9/8/63 ad for Tornado Quarterback Club (Toledo Tornado Football Highlights with Orris Tabner). There are three more ads for Series One in the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, a Wednesday, 7/17/63 ad for "The 105th" (George Hoffman) a Wednesday, 8/14/63 ad for "Erie: Cannons and Computers" and a Wednesday, 9/4/63 ad for "The Battle That Saved a State." There's also a Channel 13 ad in that gallery, a Tuesday, 7/9/63 ad for "Landmark at Lagoona," a report on the Enrico Fermi atomic power plant (Monroe, MI).
