February 20, 2011: Wall Around Cuba

I added 20 more ads today, all from January-April 1963, most of them for movies on Channel 11's The Big Show and Night Owl Theater. There are 13 in the Channel 11 gallery, including a Wednesday, 1/9/63 ad for a Bowling Green-Toledo basketball game. There's a Tuesday, 3/5/63 ad for "Operation Secret," "Madame Bovary" and "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman" and a Friday, 3/15/63 ad for "Across the Wide Missouri" (Clark Gable). There's a Sunday, 3/17/63 ad for "The Little Colonel" (Shirley Temple, Lionel Barrymore) and a Wednesday, 3/20/63 ad for "The Lion and the Horse," "Distant Drums" (Gary Cooper) and "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein." Next is a Thursday, 3/21/63 ad for "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein," "Illegal" (Edward G. Robinson) and "Tarzan and the Mermaids" and there's a Friday, 3/22/66 ad for "Above and Beyond" (Robert Taylor). There's a Tuesday 3/26/63 ad for "12 O'Clock High" (Robert Taylor), shown in two parts on The Big Show and a Friday, 3/29/63 ad for "The Incredible House of Wax" (Vincent Price). Next is a Saturday, 3/30/63 ad for the NBC Project Twenty special, "The Tall American" (Gary Cooper). This was a delayed broadcast which was shown on most NBC stations, including channel 4 in Detroit, on Tuesday 3/26/63. There are three more ads for movies, a Thursday, 4/11/63 ad for "Rogue Cop," "Folsom Prison" (Steve Cochran) and "The Day the Earth Stood Still," a Friday, 4/12/63 ad for "How to Marry a Millionaire" (Marilyn Monroe) and a Tuesday, 4/14/63 ad for "Tarzan's Peril," "In the Good Old Summertime" (Judy Garland, Van Johnson) and "Jitter Bugs" (Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy). There's one more ad in the News/Special Reports Ads gallery. It's a Friday 3/22/63 ad for CBS News Extra "Wall Around Cuba." There are three in the Channel 13 gallery, a Monday, 3/4/63 ad for The Rebel (Nick Adams), a Wednesday, 3/6/63 ad for The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp (Hugh O'Brien) and a Friday, 3/8/63 ad for Ripcord and "Duel in the Sun" (Gregory Peck, Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cotten).
