November 29, 2011: Why I Like TV

I added 23 more ads today, all from October 1996 issues of TV Guide Magazine. In the "better late than never" department there are some more Halloween ads today and there will be even more on Friday. There are three in the ABC gallery including a Sunday, 10/6/96 ad for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman "Swear to God, This Time We're Not Kidding" (Dean Cain, Teri Hatcher). There's also a Tuesday, 10/15/96 ad for the 4th season premiere of NYPD Blue, "Moby Greg" (Sharon Lawrence, Dennis Franz, Kim Delaney, Jimmy Smits) and a Friday, 10/25/96 ad for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch "A Halloween Story" (Melissa Joan Hart) and Clueless "Making Up Is Hard to Do." There are four in the CBS gallery, the first one, a Saturday, 10/5/96 ad for Early Edition "The Choice" (Kyle Chandler), Next is a Monday, 10/21/96 ad for Cosby "One Foot in Your Mouth (Bill Cosby), the series premiere of Ink, "Above the Fold" (Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen), Murphy Brown "Phil's Dead" (Candice Bergen) and Cybill  "Cybill Does Diary" (Cybill Shepherd). There's also a Friday, 10/25/96 ad for the 30th anniversary rerun of Peanuts "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and the premiere of Boo! to You Too, Winnie the Pooh, and a Monday, 10/28/96 full-page ad for The Late Show with David Letterman. There are four more in the FOX gallery including a Friday, 10/25/96 two-part ad and close-up description for the Millennium pilot (Lance Henriksen). There are two Sunday, 10/27/96 ads, the first ad for two hours of The Simpsons including a rerun of "Treehouse of Horror VI" and the premiere of "Treehouse of Horror VII" and the second ad for the Sunday night premiere of The X-Files, "Unruhe" (Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny). The last Fox ad is a Tuesday, 10/29/96 ad for Goosebumps "The Haunted Mask II," part of Fox Halloween Horror Nights, sponsored by Doritos. There are six in PBS gallery., the first one, a Sunday, 10/6/96 ad for The American Experience "TR, the Story of Theodore Roosevelt." Next is a Tuesday, 10/8/96 ad for Frontline "The Choice '96" (Bob Dole, Bill Clinton) and a Wednesday, 10/9/96 ad for In the Wild "The Elephants of India" (Goldie Hawn). There's also a Sunday, 10/13/96 ad for Mobil Masterpiece Theatre "Moll Flanders" (Alex Kingston), a Wednesday, 10/23/96 ad for Scientific American Frontiers "Inventing the Future" (Alan Alda) and a 10/26/96 national full-page color ad for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, The Magic School Bus and Arthur. There's one more in the UPN gallery, a Sunday, 10/6/96 full-page ad for Star Trek: 30 Years and Beyond (Kate Mulgrew, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks).
