May 2, 2010: The Tanners Have a Visitor...

There are 19 new ads today, all from September 1986 plus 2 additions to the Random Pages gallery, one has the 1986 prime time schedules for ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS from the Fall Preview issue of TV Guide and the other is a TV Guide page from Wednesday 9/24/86 which has a close-up for four series that had cliffhangers at the end of the previous season (Dynasty, The Colbys, Cheers and Dallas).

The ABC gallery has one for the second season premiere of MacGyver (Robert Dean Ander- son). The two parts of the ad were shown on opposite sides of two adjoining pages. and the CBS gallery has two, one for their Saturday morning shows (Paul Reubens as Pee- Wee Herman) and one for the 19th season premiere of 60 Minutes (Harry Reasoner, Diane Sawyer, Morley Safer, Mike Wallace, Ed Bradley, Andy Rooney). The NBC gallery has three ads, one for Alvin Goes Back to School, a special promoting their Saturday morning shows (Soleil Moon Frye, Jackee Harry, John Hoyt, Joey Lawrence, Jeremy Licht, Richard Moll, Mark Price, Doris Roberts), one for the series premiere of Alf (Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, Andrea Elson, Benji Gregory) and one for the World Premiere Movie "Stranded" (Loni Anderson, Perry King). The Alf ad was actually shown on two pages. The part on the left was on one page and you had to turn it over for the part on the right. The Vintage Cable Ads gallery has a Cinemax ad for The Max Headroom Show (Matt Frewer). See Wikipedia page here. The TBS gallery has nine ads, one for a WTBS contest on Gilligan's Island (Bob Denver), two more for The New Leave it to Beaver, one with a picture of the Cleavers and one with a picture of just Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow and six more for the movies "Singin' in the Rain" on Bristol-Myers Theater (Donald O'Connor, Gene Kelly), "Away All Boats" (Jeff Chandler), "Back to Bataan" (John Wayne) and "The Longest Yard," (Burt Reynolds) all on Award Theatre, "The Ghost of Flight 401" (Ernest Borgnine) and "The Violent Men" (Glenn Ford). The Ohio-W. Pennsylvania gallery has two WDTN-TV2 News ads, one for Carl Nichols Weather and one for a Cal Campbell report on the B-1 Bomber and one WLIO-TV35 ad for Hour Magazine (Gary Collins).
